Charles Peale

Charles Peale received a BFA from Philadelphia College in Art in 1974. He went on to co-found Eden Glassworks in West Virginia and blew glass for seven years. Since then, he has worked as a freelance illustrator for many clients including Newark Star-ledger, Washington Post, Children’s Television Network, C-Ville Weekly, and McCall’s magazine.

Charles completed a fellowship at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in 2016 and has participated in both group and solo shows at various local galleries.

“My subject matter reflects my experience in a life influenced by my exposure to comic books, nature, movies, and early television. I want each collage to say to the viewer, ‘step in closer.’”
