Claudia Cappelle
I have always been drawn to the beauty of flowers. Re-creating them in crepe paper allows me to translate the fleeting bloom by utilizing the unique stretch and grain of crepe paper to mimic the organic tension found in nature.
This three-dimensional work is separate yet an extension of my painting practice that explores the connection in nature through the lens of impermanence and the passage of time. While they differ in form from my scroll painting series, they are bound by capturing impermanence in nature.
The crepe paper becomes a living medium used to create the blooms that will exist beyond a single season into a lasting visual experience.
