I am a self-taught, eco-friendly artist based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Inspired by nature, my work highlights the beauty of familiar plants and animals often overlooked as we go about our daily routines. By observing and calling attention to the wildlife I encounter on my frequent walks, travel, and in my own backyard, I expand my connection to the natural world while inviting the viewer into their own experience.

My journey began 18 years ago when I took my first class in traditional oil painting. Over time I became increasingly aware of a disconnect between my role as a nature artist and the toxicity of many of my art supplies. Since 2019 I have worked diligently to make my art more environmentally friendly. In 2025 I tried a plant-based fluid acrylic paint, free from microplastics and harmful additives. This product opened up the world of mixed media collage, and I was hooked. I use natural acrylic to print my own papers on a gel plate which I then use for my collage work. I also collect vintage and repurposed papers which I carefully curate into backgrounds to paint my subjects over. By marrying painting and collage I am able to not only build the texture and visual interest of a piece, but also add layers of meaning and storytelling.
