C’ville Arts Features – “It’s All in the Open Air” - During June

Meg West, our highly popular, local plein air painter will be C’ville Arts Cooperative Gallery’s featured artist during the month of June. She will be at the gallery on June 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to share her latest collection during the Historic Downtown Mall’s long-awaited return of the First Friday* event. West enjoys painting “en plein air” a French expression which means "in the open air", and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Meg’s enthusiasm for landscapes found nearby along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive and surrounding counties is well represented in this show. Meg paints every day and enjoys the rhythm and momentum that comes with a steady flow of painting. The act of painting is what is important to Meg West, enjoying the feeling of being connected to the environment, herself and the painting. “The best part of painting plein air is that you are breathing, seeing and experiencing the view LARGE all around you. You are living in your painting while you are painting it.” Meg joyfully describes her experience, “Trusting your instincts becomes more natural to you, and your strokes on the canvas. Letting your mind go and just respond to nature and observation. This is the fun of painting outside!” “It’s All in the Open Air” is an exhibit you will enjoy. Come see the show!
