Karen Rexrode will share her unique and inspired assemblage work at the gallery during the month of November. This show is a must see! Come meet the artist during the Historic Downtown Mall’s First Friday celebration on Nov. 7, from 5-8pm.

The spark for “When Pigs Fly” was lit in Karen’s garage studio – a space where discarded treasures and wild ideas collide. Inspired by the whimsical phrase that usually signals impossibility, this show flips the script, celebrating the magic of optimism, dreams, and daring to believe in the improbable.

Each character is built from a repository of familiar objects – toy parts, clock cases, plastic tubing – held together with air dry clay and a generous dose of imagination. Paint transforms each piece into a cohesive story, bridging the gap between fantastical and the familiar. Some works feature dayglow paint, revealing hidden layers when the lights go out.

From concept to completion, each piece is guided by curiosity and creative risk. Some scenes may seem impossible – but that’s the point. You might find yourself tempted to wake dragons, wish for a perfect hair day, or voyage to distant galaxies unknown. And yes, there’s even a flying pig magic wand to help you get there.

This exhibit will open on Nov. 7th and continue through Dec. 3rd.
