Genevieve Story expresses her joy using a technique called Pyrography or pyrogravure. It is the art of decorating wood and other materials in her case leather, with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object. She has developed her skills masterfully and will focus this show on all things “Wings”. Her creatures are innocent, polite and rather charismatic, sure to elicit a smile. Here’s her message, let’s support her efforts during the month May and beyond!
Although my featured artist show in May cannot proceed as usual at C’ville Arts, I am going to try this virtually! I’ve begun a new series of designs called “Wings”. It seems an appropriate theme at this moment when we’re feeling caged in and looking forward to the time when we can spread our wings and take off!
Please follow me on Instagram @lutracreations and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LutraVillage/, where I’ll be posting my new designs daily throughout the month of May.
I can deliver orders free of charge in and around the Charlottesville area!
Lutra Village is a partner project between brother & sister-in-law, Peter Yencken & Genevieve Story. We create functional works of art from untreated genuine cow leather and other natural materials. Our products are made by hand (by Peter) with designs burned by hand (by Genevieve) with a burning tool – not a stamp or branding iron. Each item is a one-of-a-kind work of functional art with variation in color, texture, and design details.
ABOUT C’VILLE ARTS – C’ville Arts, a cooperative membership gallery of more than sixty local artists and crafters, was established in 1997. Original works include photography, painting, glass, fiber, clay and pottery, quilling, metals, mosaics, jewelry, leather, candles and wood.
