A native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Wendy has been cutting German silhouette paper with 4.5 inch surgical scissors since she was introduced to the craft, Scherenschnitte, Pennsylvania German scissors cuttings, as a teenager. Her career has spanned 40 years and her style has evolved through time. Originally cutting traditional folk and woodland motifs, Colonial and Early American Silhouettes, her current work reflects her interest in Mid 20th Century Modern design.

All Wendy’s pieces are hand cut originals. Images cut from German Silhouette paper and other art papers are mounted and framed.   Chairs, credenzas, coffee tables, lamps, clocks, wall art and fashion from the Twentieth Century appear in many of her pieces. It’s her passion to find the fun in stretching this traditional craft in an entirely new direction.

She has sold her work at shows throughout the country and at The Museum of American Folk Art, The shops of Colonial Williamsburg and Shaker Workshops Catalog.

Wendy has a degree in English literature from the College of William and Mary and runs a gardening business and display garden, Forest Lane Botanicals, with her husband from their home in Williamsburg.
