A native of Long Island, NY, Warren began developing his leather working
skills in 1971 while he was still in the U.S. Navy. He was inspired by a
handmade leather belt given to him by a friend, and later happened upon
some antique leather working tools in a pawn shop. Thus began a 54-year
fascination with leather art.
Once out of the Navy, he opened his first shop, The Leather Joint, in
Babylon, NY. Soon after he began a career in shipbuilding (another
passion) which took him from NY to Connecticut and onto California before
landing him here in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Over time he has continued
to develop his ideas and techniques, creating functional and decorative
leather art and sculptures by combining leather with other mediums. His
work has been popular with people attending shows, such as Second
Sunday in Williamsburg, VA and in various galleries and shop throughout
the state.
